WebFeb 6, 2012 · A track going onto the sprocket while it runs is supposed to go pin first. this way the bushing will be rotated before it makes contact with the sprocket tooth. I know that's not a great explanation. Maybe somebody else can do it better. Anyway, the wear on bushings and sprockets will be extreme if you chain it up backward. WebDec 8, 2014 · A D4C will likely have sealed tracks while a D4H will have SALT tracks. I have never had any luck taking out a link on SALT tracks and don't anyone else that has either. If they are sealed, I have photos of doing a 211 Cat excavator that might apply to your machine pretty well. SALT stands for sealed and lubricated track.
